Review

I have learned about fractions, factoring and how to do long devision with variables.
It seems difficult but it is quite easy once you know what you're doing.

Reflection

I really understood all about the things we tackled in pre-cal and I think I will do better in this class that's all !(-.-)!

Important if you weren't here on friday (09/28/07)

just in case you weren't here today, the math test has been moved to MONDAY!! please be on time as mrs.ingram will close the door and you will not be able to write the test.

Reflection

I find pre-cal hard, but not as hard as what I expected. This course helps me to have more interest in math. I'm happy that i'm having fun in the class, because if i'm not, it would be boring, and it's gonna be hard for me to learn. I think the test is not gonna be that hard, and easy. Some lessons that we had were easy, but some were not. But i'll try to pass the test, and if i pass it, THANK GOD! Just kidding. But i'll do my test to pass it, and i know i will.
Good luck to all.

Reflection

So hmmm... Polynomials , easy stuff ヽ(´ー`)ノ (you spend more time writing the equations than actually doing it...). It would take me most of the class to answer simple question because I would write the wrong equation from the board... Kinda sad... ( ´Д⊂ヽ Thanks to the people that helped me when I was on a pinch ⊂二二二( ^ω^)二⊃ XD. The one thing that I just need practice are those questions that looks like this: (34+343+34)(334+4+343)(44+43+444). Too much writing.... щ(゚Д゚щ).Anyways, this unit has been fun (cause you have to share answers tee-hee ( ゚ ヮ゚) ), hoping to ace the quiz tomorrow and stuff... Now to study.... Where's my notes... WHERE ARE THEY?! (゚Д゚;≡;゚Д゚)

reflection....

I think pre-cal is hard but if I try my best I can pass this course and also so far , pre-cal is not to hard because I think we're just reviewing what we did in grade 9 and also I do like algebra or anything like solving equation and what I hate most is problem solving thats why I take pre-cal instead of consumer. I'm excited for the quizz tomorrow but I hope it's easy hehhe...

GOOD LUCK:) TO OUR QUIZZ
(WE CAN DO IT!!!)

allan loves math *rollseyes

Well this pre-calculus course has been pretty funnn soofaaar... The work we do I pretty much get after bugging people 309452034578 times to help me LOL but either way i'm good. I know most of the basic things I need to know on this unit from gr. 9 and that helped me lots! I struggled with the dividing part and got confused but i got the hang of it after staring at my paper for hours and reading it over and over again LOL j/k AND reading pj's ownage of an example on this blog. The quiz that we are having tomorrow i hope i ace which i doubt but i'll try(y) i'm studying as of right now as i type this reflection of mine well not exactly study but look over yenno yenno.. Well hmm our new unit we started i'm ohkay with it , it's not that confusing as I learn it i hope it's doesn't get harder but i doubt that also. SOOOOO to all my fellow classs mates good luck to all on our quiz tomorrow and right now it's about 11:10pm soo i'm sleeping now... peace
So far, pre-cal has been easier that what i expected. Most of the things we do in class are reviews from grade 9. Things are pretty easy, but then there are times when i'd forget the formula's for things, or how to do some stuff. And there are times when i'd write the wrong answers for the basic things like adding and stuff, even though i know the actual answer. Overall, i think i will do well in this course, and hopefully manage to get a really high mark on the unit test.

Reflection

From what we've learned so far in class, I didn't have any major difficulties, just a few small problems like subtracting wrong and stuff. It also feels like somewhat of a review from last year because last year in grade 9 we learned some of these things such as polynomials. So everything we've learned about up until now isn't a very big deal, at least for me. So the test tomorrow I hope I won't blank out on any of the questions and hopefully it won't be completely difficult! Good luck to everyone !!

"Reflection"

Polynomials is pretty easy but only the multiply thing. I'm having trouble with my dividing part, and tomorrow is the test Im so nervous to got a low marked and I keep on thinking everything and it gives me headache. Well I hope i can answer it all correctly.... Well GOOD LUCK to all!!!!

>>reflection<<

0ur math test is t0morr0w s0 i/we better start reviewing 4 t0m0rr0w's test..its n0t that t0ugh th0ugh..but yeah..the review questions we answered last class did help me a l0t 4 t0m0rr0w's test.. polynomials,factoring etc. was 0ur last year t0pic..s0 there's n0thing 2 w0rry ab0ut. i h0pe i/we'll get a high mark 4 this test..s0 g0od luck guyz and girlz..

I'm ready...

Hello! Tomorrow we have to write the test... but i think i'll pass, because i understand and i know how to do it. LOL! i think this unit is so easy, like division by binomials, factoring difference of squares,ect. i think i can get higher than 95? good luck 2 everyone ! ^^

***reflection***

Mmmmm...... Pre-cal is a very hard subject and I'm struggling in it for about a month ago.... I had a couple of low scores from the previous tests and this coming test on Friday, makes me really worried... I hope I'll be able to pass on this one....I'll try my best and I will study real hard.... Good luck to myself and to all of you guys.....

Reflection

The unit is easy for me now. The only trouble that I had on was dividing, but with help I was able to understand. The rest like multiplying and factoring, was pretty easy once I understood it. I hope I do well on this test and good luck to everyone on Friday.

Reflection

This unit gave me a hard time at first, but when we did a lot of practice and I went over my mistakes, I understood better. Hopefully I get a good mark on this unit's test.

Unit Reflection...

Hmm.. well, i think this unit was pretty easy, except for the dividing.. got confused a couple of times.. but overall i think it was okay. and for the test...? i think i'll do well.. as long as i go over everything and dont blank out. so yeah.. thats about it. good luck guys! (:

Reflection =]

Ok, so the test for the polynomials unit is this Friday. I don't feel worried about it. Most of the stuff was pretty easy so it was almost like a review from grade 9. The hardest part was probably the dividing and I'm sure that a lot of people would agree. I think that I will do well on the test as long as I don't get some kind of mental-block or anything. Good luck to everyone! =]

Reflection

I haven't been here long, so there's not much to say about studying the unit. All I really have to say is that I'm fairly confident I'll do well on the test, as I've been able to handle everything we've done in class so far nicely.

REFLECTION

Studying this topic (polynomials,dividing ,factoring and etc.......) is not really hard as long as you know how the proper solution .Our test on friday, I' thInk will help me to know what are the things that i really know and dont about that topics.;>GOOD LUCK:>

Reflection.

This unit, polynomials and factoring, was pretty easy for me. I understood everything. The only thing I had trouble with at first was the long division of polynomials, but I get it now. I imagine the unit test on Friday won't be very difficult for me.

r e f l e c t i o n

i didn't have a pretty hard time at this unit. the lessons aren't that hard to understand.
i guess that's what we all expect since we're still starting the course.
i hope i don't get mantal-blocked on the test. :)

Factoring Difference of Squares

Multiply:
(x* - means X squared)

(x + 1)(x - 1) = x* - 1
(x + 2)(x - 2) = x* - 4
(x - 3)(x + 3) = x* - 9
(2x - 1)(2x + 1) = 4x* - 1

Difference of Squares

Example 1:

81y* - 4
(9y + 2)(9y - 2)

Example 2:

x* - 144
(x + 12)(x - 12)

Do exercise 10, questions 1 - 7, 19 & 20

-this is it, work's pretty easy, sorry if its unclear,
- next scribe is William San Diego.

Factor Using Grouping

Notes that was taken from the board.

2t*2+t-3

a=2 b=1 c=-3

a X c

2 X -3=-6 ---> what are factors that will add up to 'b' value

-2+3=1

-2X3=6

2t*2 + t -3

2t*2 -2t + 3t- 3

<------> <---->

2t(t-1) + 3(t-1) -----> brackets should be the same

(2t+3) (t-1)

Assignment: Exercise 9 Questions 1-8, 10,11,20

Sorry if you can't understand.
Next scribe is Praisia.
Sorry that's it's posted late didn't know who the next scribe was.

Good luck =)

Factoring

Hi!! everyone!!!
Today we did factoring and it's kind of easy so you don't have to worry too much. :)

Here's the notes that mrs.Ingram wroth to the blackboard;

Factoring
- The numbers or variables that multiply to get another value.

Ex. 1
24

the factors of 24 are;

1 x 24, 2 x 12, 3 x 8, 4 x 6, -6 x -4, -1 x -24, -2 x -12, -3 x -8

Ex. 2

x2 = (x)(x)

Ex. 3

3x3+ 6x + 27

factor---- 3(x3 + 2x +9 )

-- remember you can't factor the numbers and variables inside the bracket because there's no factors of 9 that can get 2.

x2 +2x +9 ----- ax2+ bx + c

Ex. 4

x2 + 6x -7 ( You should find the factor of 7 that if we add or subtract we can get a positive 6 )

factor--- (x-1)(x-7) ( if you want to make sure that you're answer is correct just multiply (x-1) to (x-7)

Mrs. Ingram also give us an assignment, Exercise 2 1-20 except 14 a nd 18

Enjoy your homework :)

merlzzz

just read the blog thing i did,it's a little bit late because the pics took a long time to do. XD oh and btw today is the anniversary of 9/11 so yea i hope that means something somehow...
who wants to help me on dividing cause i'm not good at it!!!

Polynomials:Dividing

Hey everyone! In case you missed today's math class, forgot some of the notes or whatever your reason may be, here's a quick recap of today's lesson.

Division

16/2=8 Easy enough right?
4x/4 is done the same way. 4x/4 is 1x or x(If it's 1x or 1y or 1_ you don't have to include the "1")

can also be written as which equals 2x+1.

Now for the grade 10 math stuff:
To make this a little easier, let's write it as

Now I'm pretty sure that you've done long division before. This question is done just like normal long division except that now there are variables.

*Please remember that when you write down the question, the numbers have to be in descending order according to powers of x (ex. x3 then x2 then x then number with no variable) or else your answer will be wrong.*

Now what you do is look at just the "x". What do you need to multiply "x" by to get x3? The answer is x2 . So now you put x2 on top like so:

Now you have to multiply the whole divisor (x+1) by x2 which should work out to x3+x2 . Now subtract that from the equation as you would in a regular long division question:

Now bring down the next term and repeat.

What do you multiply x by to get 3x2 ? 3x! Then multiply: 3x(x+1) [which turns out to be 3x2 +3x], subtract it from the equation again and bring down the next term:

Now how many times does "x" go into 4x? 4! Now, once again multiply 4(x+1) [which is 4x+4] ,subtract and.........

..........you now have your answer! YAY!!

Now, to check if this is right, take the divisor(x+1), multiply it by the quotient (x2+3x+4) and add the remainder (which happens to be 0). If you get the original polynomial (x3+4x2+7x+4) then it's right!

Now a couple of extra points. PLEASE READ THESE!
If there is a remainder after this step:

Leave it as R _ like in a regular long division question.
If there is a term "missing" like in the example x4+3x2-7x+4 (an "x3" is missing), add it in as +0x3 and put it in the right place(in between x4 and +3x2). If you don't do this, your answer will not turn out right!
If the divisor has a negative integer like x-2, don't forget that when you subtract a negative integer, you "flip" the sign and add. Ex. 10-(-12)=10+12=22
Finally, here was the homework assignment:
Exercise 3
Questions 1-12
You don't have to check your answers (just in case you were wondering).
I hope this helps! =]

OH! I almost forgot! The next scribe is...........(drum roll) kimberly! Enjoy!

Sept 10 / 07

Polynomials :
Multiplication

3 x 2 = 6

MONOMIAL -----> [3x] * 2 = 6x

3x * (2x + 4) = 6x(squared) + 12x

( x + 1 ) ( x + 3 ) :
= x(squared) + 3x + x + 3
= x(squared) + 4x + 3

Homework: Exercise 1: Multiplying Polynomials A-1

These are notes taken from the board, if you do not understand
please be my guest and ask Mrs. Ingram (:

The next scribe ISSSSSSS....
PJ ! hah, have fun =)

Cheers, Jenn (:
